Discussion Group – Thursdays at 7:30pm

We have started a veteran discussion group amid the recent events in Afghanistan. This group is free and open to all veterans and any civilians who worked directly with the US military. It is a place to talk with your fellow brothers and sisters while processing what is currently happening. This group will be ongoing as long as there are veterans wanting to discuss. Join us every Thursday at 7:30 pm CST.

No one can prepare or protect themselves against PTSD. When a traumatic event occurs, our brain sustains a physical wound, the actual knowledge of the experience. The brain always wants to stay in comfort, and trauma is not comfortable. After the trauma, the brain is desperately trying to process and reorganize itself to get back to comfort. Most veterans do not think about life after the military, and definitely not about living with PTSD in post-military life, but that is exactly what happens to many veterans. We are here to help you navigate your way out of the darkness.

At PAASI, we are committed to helping veterans adjust to civilian life through traditional therapy, neurofeedback, and biofeedback. We understand that depression and PTSD are typical in veterans, but we do not assume anything with any client. We pride ourselves on building unique treatment plans based on the needs and goals of each client. We are here to help each client heal and reconnect with who they were pre-military in order to bridge the gap to who they are now in post-military life.

There are multiple avenues we can take to help you process your thougths, feelings, and experiences. We know that many veterans do not want to address their feelings and process emotions. It is not pleasant, and we truly understand. Unfortunately, emotions are unavoidable. Life is hard enough without avoiding the reality of natural emotion. It is okay to need help. EMDR has become the go-to therapy when treating trauma, and is very powerful for healing. There are also other options available, one being NeurOptimal neurofeedback. Neurofeedback gives your brain a mirror, allowing it to become aware of its own automatic processes and choose what processes need to be adjusted for itself. Everyone’s brain is as unique as DNA, which is why we choose to work with NeurOptimal neurofeedback. It is practitioner free, simply listening to the electrical activity of your brain, and responding through sound in real time to alert the brain of a shift in activity. It is that simple.
