Those who dedicate their lives to protecting others deserve care that recognizes the sacrifices they have made.
Therapy for Veterans and First Responders
Understanding the Challenges of Service
Military service and emergency response can expose individuals to experiences that profoundly affect their emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. While training and experience prepare veterans and first responders to respond to extraordinary circumstances, the effects of those experiences do not always end when the immediate danger has passed.
For some, the challenges emerge gradually through changes in sleep, increased anxiety, irritability, difficulty concentrating, or a persistent sense of being on alert. Others may experience intrusive memories, emotional withdrawal, relationship difficulties, or a sense of disconnection from the people and activities that once brought meaning to their lives. These experiences can affect not only the individual but also the family members who care about them.
At PAASI Family Therapy, we recognize that the experiences of veterans and first responders are unique, and their treatment should reflect their individual needs, experiences, and goals.

A Personalized Approach to Trauma Treatment
Effective treatment begins with understanding the individual rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis. Our therapeutic approach considers the relationship between thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and current patterns of functioning. We work collaboratively with clients to identify the challenges they are experiencing and develop treatment plans that support meaningful, lasting improvement.
Depending on the individual’s needs, treatment may incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Written Exposure Therapy (WET), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other therapeutic interventions. Neurofeedback may also be incorporated as a complementary service to support self-regulation and adaptability. Our goal is to help veterans and first responders process difficult experiences, strengthen relationships, improve daily functioning, and move toward a life that is no longer defined by the effects of trauma.
Our Commitment Extends Beyond the Therapy Office
Our commitment to veterans and first responders extends beyond the services offered at PAASI Family Therapy. Recognizing the complexity of trauma and the limitations of approaches that address only one aspect of an individual’s health, our founder established Health For Our Heroes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to exploring a more comprehensive approach to PTSD treatment.
Through its public initiative, Health For Our Heroes, the organization is developing an integrated treatment program to combine psychotherapy, neurofeedback, functional medicine, and medical nutrition. Its initial pilot program is designed to evaluate outcomes among veterans and first responders in the Plano, Texas, area, with the long-term goal of improving access to comprehensive trauma care by training practitioners across the country.
The nonprofit is a separate organization from PAASI Family Therapy, but both share a commitment to improving the lives of those who have dedicated themselves to serving others.
